Short Description:
The results of a poll conducted by The Independent finds that 71% of British citizens are in support of a ban on wild animals performing in circuses, while 21% are opposed and 7% don't know.
Abstract:
By political party, a ban on circus animals is supported by 70% of Conservatives, 76% of the Labour Party, and 83% of Liberal Democrats. In addition, women are more in favor (76%) of the ban than men (66%), as are people in the lower social classes D and E (75%) versus those among the professional A and B groups (70%). Younger people are also more supportive of such ban than older people.
About 20 animals currently perform in three British circuses.
