Short Description:
Based on a survey of nonprofit organizations, this study presents information about the most utilized fundraising tactics, changes in revenues from previous years, and how fundraising techniques varied by sector in 2010.
Abstract:
Study Highlights:
- Board giving was utilized by most organizations surveyed (87%), followed by holding special events (80%), foundation grants (79%), and direct mail/email (78%).
- Online giving was utilized by about three-quarters of the organizations surveyed.
- Telephone appeals, payroll giving, and planned gifts were the least utilized fundraising tactics.
- Individual giving was the largest source of contributions for most of the nonprofit organizations participating in the survey.
- Animal protection and environmental organizations had a greater increase in revenues from foundation grants compared to other sources.
