How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far?
At HRC, one of our resolutions is to help more advocates maximize their effectiveness and save more animals. Through our research and training services, pro bono work, and free resources, HRC empowers advocates with information and gives them the knowledge they need to create positive change for animals.
But don't just take our word for it...
“HRC is one of those organizations that I look at with absolute awe. The services they provide to the animal protection community are unique and necessary.”
Jasmin Singer, Our Hen House
How can HRC help you be a better animal advocate? In addition to our many free resources, available through HumaneSpot.org, we offer discounted services designed specifically to help advocates be more informed and effective in their work for animals... Get Trained
HRC has trained thousands of advocates through conferences, workshops, and client projects. We are uniquely suited to train your team on the use of research and interpret the latest opinion and behavior data on the animal issues you choose. We are the experts in applying research to your animal advocacy work and our database is the most comprehensive source of animal-related research in the world.HRC offers standard training workshops and we encourage you to team up with other advocates or organizations to maximize the value of the training. You can choose from three standard training topics including hour-long, half-day, and full-day formats offered online or in person, or we’ll be happy to customize a workshop for your group. All presentations will emphasize the points that are of most interest to you and your team.
Visit our website to learn about the different types of workshops and formats that we offer, then contact HRC to discuss arranging a workshop for your team.
Get Readable
Our recent readability study has gotten a lot of attention! We all know that outreach materials need to be readable to be effective, and our study showed that most vegan outreach literature, in particular, is 3-4 grade levels too high for the average adult reader. We expect this is true of literature relating to most other animal issue as well.
Our report, carried out with the support of VegFund and FARM, details the methods we used to evaluate the readability of eleven different brochures. All of the readability assessment tools that we used are also publicly available, so just about anyone should be able to repeat our methods for their literature. However, if you would like HRC to help, we would be happy to do so! We can help you evaluate the readability of your brochure for about $250, including suggestions to make the literature more readable, if needed.
Contact HRC today to find out what grade level your literature is reaching.
