Short Description:
According to this study, the average British consumer is an estimated 16 pounds overweight per person, with summer heat and World Cup soccer as the most common excuses for not exercising.
Abstract:
According to survey respondents, 22% say they neglect exercise when the weather gets too hot, while 17% admitted that it is typical to put on weight during the summer. Furthermore, 14% say the World Cup had a detrimental effect on their health, causing them to eat and drink more than normal.
Also, during the summer months, the average British consumer made 73 pub visits and went to 40 barbecue sessions, with 61% saying they ate more on these occasions than they would have eaten at a "normal" meal.
Over the summer, the average British adult consumed:
- 81 cans of beer & 57 glasses of wine
- 73 bags of crisps
- 59 bar snacks such as pork pies or scotch eggs
- 56 sausages & 54 burgers
- 36 portions of ice cream
