Short Description:
Commissioned by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and the League Against Cruel Sports, this survey found that three-quarters of the British public support continuing the ban on fox hunting and 84% support continuing the ban on deer hunting.
Abstract:
Among the British public, 75% support the current ban on fox hunting, while 21% would like it repealed. Additionally, 84% support the ban on deer hunting, and 85% believe that hare coursing and hunting should remain illegal.
In rural areas, 72% of respondents support the ban on fox hunting, while 82% think deer hunting and 86% think hare hunting should remain banned, respectively. Among conservatives, 62% say that fox hunting should remain illegal, while 33% believe it should be legal.
The majority (83%) of Labour supporters are opposed to fox hunting, which is roughly similar to 77% of Liberal Democrats who feel similarly.
