Short Description:
This nationwide survey of more than 36,000 purebred dogs in the United Kingdom identified the most common health conditions in dog breeds in 2004, with cancer as the most frequently occurring ailment.
Abstract:
The top three leading causes of death among purebred dogs in the UK in 2004 were was cancer (27%), old age (18%), and cardiac issues (11%). The organ systems most commonly at issue within purebreds were the reproductive (14%), musculoskeletal (13%), and the dermatological (11%) systems. The median age of all living dogs included in this study was 4 years, 10 months.
