Welcoming Carol Glasser!

HRC is very pleased to announce that we’ve expanded our team by one! Carol Glasser joins HRC as our new Research Director, bringing with her a wealth of both quantitative and qualitative research experience. Carol is a doctoral candidate in Sociology with a particular interest in studying animal protection issues, as well as gender and other social justice issues. Please join us in welcoming Carol to the HRC team!

-------------------

Following is a short biography for Carol; you can see biographies for the rest of the HRC team here.

Carol Glasser received her M.A., and is currently a doctoral candidate, in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Irvine. Her current research focuses on the animal rights movements, examining how social movement organizations and the state interact and the role of illegal direct action in the movement. Carol honed her research skills working on a variety of research projects and teams, examining everything from interventions to slow cognitive decay in geriatric populations to the role gender and ethnicity play in the body type preferences of heterosexual daters. Outside of academia, Carol works at the grassroots level to stop animal exploitation and advance animals’ social position.

And here’s a brief message directly from Carol: “I am honored to be part of HRC and look forward to working in such a wonderful community. I am excited to direct my experience and energy toward helping those who strive to end animals’ suffering.”
