We're Growing! HRC and HumaneSpot.org Need Your Support

| |

The research, polls and other wealth of information available at HumaneSpot.org have been extremely helpful in our efforts to bring about policy, legislative and local reforms on behalf of animals. Thank you for being an essential resource for the animal protection and welfare movement.

Inga Gibson, Humane Society of the U.S.

If you care about animals, we know you're already smart and compassionate. HumaneSpot.org is here to help you and other advocates be more effective.

Can you make a small donation to support this uniquely valuable resource for the animal protection movement?

Thanks to people like you, more and more advocates are harnessing the power of research to inform and improve their efforts and help more animals. HumaneSpot.org makes this possible by serving as the world’s most comprehensive (and 100% free) resource for animal-related opinion and behavior research. The website is also home to a variety of useful and free tools for animal advocates, all of which are provided by the nonprofit Humane Research Council.

HumaneSpot.org has nearly 2,000 research studies and references, all of which are directly relevant to animal protection work. So far in 2011, the Humane Research Council’s small team has published 150 new research studies/references, written more than 30 new blog posts, updated our Animal Tracker graphing tool, and much more. We make all of this information available to advocates, for free, so they can be more informed and more effective.

And animal advocates have responded, with the number of HumaneSpot.org users growing by 70% over the past year. The average number of unique visitors to the website nearly doubled during that time. More importantly, users are actively engaging with the research and finding it valuable in their work for animals – 98% say they intend to use HumaneSpot.org “often” or “sometimes” and 82% rate the site as either “excellent” or “good.”

HRC personnel devote a substantial amount of time and energy to finding, summarizing, and adding new research studies to HumaneSpot.org. In 2010, this time along with the costs of hosting and technical improvements totaled 14% of the Humane Research Council’s annual budget. HumaneSpot.org represents a major investment of time and money for a very small organization, but we maintain the site because it is both unique and invaluable.

Thanks to the tremendous growth that we have experienced over the past year, HumaneSpot.org will soon require a dedicated server. This is expected to increase our costs by about $100 per month. If you utilize HumaneSpot.org or any of the other free resources that HRC provides, please consider a small recurring donation. A commitment of only $15 per month from just seven people receiving this email would cover the cost of our new dedicated server.

Please make a donation today for HumaneSpot.org.

It may be a cliché, but knowledge truly is power, and HumaneSpot.org exists to provide knowledge. By informing animal advocates, we also empower them to achieve greater things for animals. Please join HRC in this mission by making a small contribution toward a more knowledgeable and powerful animal protection movement.

I've found HumaneSpot.org an invaluable tool on a personal level, and I consistently recommend it to the students, clients, and foundation colleagues with whom I work.
